The government, and especially the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation (EL&I), has defined a number of tasks in the field of food safety, animal health and biodiversity for the purpose of checking legislation and regulations, and for issues of general public interest. These are the so-called Statutory Research Tasks (WOT).
RIKILT is conducting a number of WOT in the field of food safety. These tasks are formulated in the framework of research programmes carried out for the government, especially the EL&I, but also the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) and the European Union. The EL&I is especially demanding in terms of requirements placed on the execution of WOT, due to the importance of the associated financial resources and public interest: The research is required to be independent, reliable and transparent.
Ready round the clock
RIKILT is a flexible organisation that offers the means to substantially increase measuring capacity in a very short period of time. As a key partner for EL&I, VWA and AID in times of crises RIKILT is open for business 24/7, which is necessary as we play a major advisory and analysis role when foodstuff calamities occur.
